American musical group performed in Cuban Province

Cienfuegos, Cuba, January 29, - The performance of the Northwest Sinfonietta, musical group of the U.S. city of Seattle, dazzled audiences in the Cuban city of Cienfuegos, which cataloged it as the cultural event of the week that ends today. On stage at the Tomas Terry Theater, very close to celebrate 122 years of its founding, the performers shared the show with the Orquesta de Camara Concierto Sur (South Chamber Orchestra) and the Cantores de Cienfuegos (Cienfuegos Chorus), both of this city located 250 kilometers southeast of Havana. Speaking to the press, Neil Birnbaum, executive director of the visitor company described the performance as an historical encounter in which they included Opre Rome!, a piece composed by its musical director and co-founder, Christophe Chagnard, which recently had its world premiere. Chagnard explained that this symphony was able to combine his two melodic passions, classical music and jazz, in the case of the latter genre, including Gypsy aspects. The own creator said to be impressed with the expertise of local musicians with whom they intend to perform a concert in the cities of Tacoma and Seattle, both in the U.S. Pacific coast, scheduled for October. The presence of many young people in the audience who applauded works like Adagio, of Samuel Osborne Barber, the Serenade for Strings, created by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Te Deum, of Mozart, was highlighted by the first baton of the Northwest Sinfonietta, who also intends to maintain annual visits to Cienfuegos. During his stay in this province the members of the group of the neighboring country exchanged with some other specialties in the county, with community cultural projects and students of an elementary art school, and visited some tourist places.
