American travel agency receives approval for Cuba Cultural Tour

Havana, Cuba, January 25, - The American travel agency Collette Vacations announced having received authorization from the U.S. government to proceed with its planned Cultural trip to Cuba. The program, named "Rediscover Cuba: A Cultural Exploration tour", has been prepared under the conditions of a People-to-People license that has been granted to Collette vacations by American authorities in charge of that kind of approvals. "Cuba represents the educational travel opportunity of a lifetime," said Dan Sullivan, Collette's president and CEO. "I believe it's a place many American travellers are eager to learn about and the demand we've seen proves that." According to agency's sources, the tour is built around educational exchange activities in Cuba and includes stays in Trinidad and Havana. Participants will be able to meet a Cuban family in their restaurant, visiting an orphanage, encounters with students at a primary school in Havana, and visits to cultural and educational places in both cities. Another highlight of the tour will be a harbor cruise that participants will enjoy together with local fishermen, indicated the Collette's announcement. Since American President Barack Obama eased U.S. citizens restrictions to travel to Cuba under certain terms, several groups interested in having exchanges with the Island concerning cultural, educational and religious topics, have travelled to Cuba. Up to now, more than seven airports have received authorizations from the Treasure Department to start direct flight operations to Cuba and about ten are still waiting for that. Cuban-Americans are able to travel freely to the island.
