Chucho Valdes and Pablo Milanes to present their new album in Spain

Spain, April 26, 2008, (Europa Press). - The Cuban piano player Chucho Valdes and the Cuban singer Pablo Milanes are to present in Spain their new album named "Mas alla del tiempo" (Beyond Time), with a tour which will start in Burgos and which is to be end on May 15 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos de Madrid (Madrid Municipal Congress Palace), after presenting through cities such as Leon, Valladolid, Salamanca, Granada, Las Palmas from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Barcelona. Milanes explained that all the songs from the new album are unreleased, "in its texts as well as its music." "We had been planning this work together for a very long time, and it has turned out to be very positive because I knew which lyrics would Chucho like and he also guessed what kind of music I would like better," he commented. The project to make an album together came up four years ago but it wasn't over until the autumn of 2005, when Chucho Valdes handed in the first few pieces of music so that Pablo Milanes could write the lyrics for them. The recording process lasted only very few days in March 2007, in the Cuban recording studios Abdala in Havana, where the piano was recorded and in the PM Records Studios, also in Havana where Milanes' voice was recorded. As a world pre-premiere, both artists made their work known in a festival at Belen do Para (Brazil) last October, as well as in Cuba. Varied Themes. The Latin Jazz piano player confirmed that "it has been too many years already coinciding artistically" and that has helped them understand each other "very easily." Both artists pointed out that "we are talking about a complete album" which deals "with a huge variety of genres, from jazz to Cuban son going through the trova." "This collection of styles was what inspired Milanes for the title of the album," pointed out Valdes. "Mas alla del tiempo" is made up by a total of ten songs that are not, according to Milanes, "love songs, all of them, since there are many themes." In this sense, for example, Milanes explained that Pilar is a tribute to Chucho's mother, who is eighty years old now, and who he had never met before he wrote this tribute, even if she did knew him. Valdes added that his mother had followed the trajectory of the Cuban singer since she heard him sing at the age of eleven, at a Cuban television program lead by Jose Antonio Alonso.
