Cuba Gets Silver in Olympic Baseball

Beijing, August, 23- Cuban baseball team got the 2008 Beijing Olympics silver medal on Saturday after losing the game against South Korea 2-3. The Cuban team could not overcome a tight disadvantage of two runs from the first inning when South Korean first base Lee Seungyuop made a home run with a man on base. Korean southpaw Ryu Hyunjin seized control of the game, except for the home runs of Michel Enriquez and Alexei Bell in the 1st and 7th innings respectively with no man on base each. The Cuban team made 5 hits against the only undefeated team of the tournament, and the bases were full by the end of the 9th inning, one out when Yulieski Gourriel hit to double play. This was the 5th medal Cuba has won in equal presentations to Olympic baseball tournaments. Cuba won gold in Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004, and silver in Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008.
