Cuba, US Head to Volleyball Semifinals

Beijing, Aug 20, - Cuba will face the United States Thursday in the semifinals of the Beijing 2008 Olympic women's volleyball. Both teams are the only ones that have beaten China, the defending Olympic champion. Cuba won a previous pool play against the United States (3-0). That result, however, is now irrelevant since Thursday's game will be crucial in the fight for the Olympic crown. The losing team should play for the bronze medal. Cuban head coach Antonio Perdomo told Prensa Latina that the US team has been gradually improving, as seen in their matches versus China and Italy. China hopes to beat the almost perfect Brazilian game in the other semifinal, counting on the support of its fans.
