Cuban 110 Meter Hurdler Dayron Robles Sends Message of Encouragement to his Friend Chinese Liu Xiang

Beijing, August 20,- Cuban 110 meter hurdler Dayron Robles send a message of encouragement to his Chinese counterpart Liu Xiang wishing him a quick recovery. "I send you greetings, Liu, but I am also sorry you suffered an injury to your right foot", said the young Cuban star, who is the favorite to win the 110 meter hurdles. Robles easily won the semi finals with a time of 13.12 seconds at the Beijing Bird's Nest National Stadium. Dozens of reporters surrounded the Cuban athlete and when questioned about Liu Xiang, Robles responded with words of solidarity towards his Chinese idol. "I would have wanted to race against Liu", said Robles. Rivals at the tracks, but friends outside the stadium, both athletes represent the best of the 110 meter hurdles. Liu lowed the time of the 110 meter hurdles of 12.88 in 2006, and Robles broke that record in Ostrava last June 12th with a time of 12.87 seconds. Asked about his current state of mind without Liu Xiang, Dayron Robles said "he is calm, always hard, but no pressure". He praised the track at the Bird's Nest National Stadium.
