Cuban Airline to Cover New Caribbean Routes

Havana, Jun 9 (Latin Press), Cuban airline Aerocaribbean announced Monday the opening of two routes to link the Caribbean destinations of Varadero (Cuba) and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), as reported by bulletin Caribbean News Digital Monday. The report added that Varadero Beach constitutes the main Cuban tourist pole for sun and beach, allowing a direct connection between Varadero and the Dominican Republic and joining two of the most renowned tourist destinations in the Caribbean. Aerocaribbean officials explained that ATR airplanes will begin the flights in the charter modality (freighted) on July 8, with a twice-a-week program. Also, a weekly flight from the Cuban eastern city of Santiago de Cuba will begin service on June 24, to reach Port-au- Prince, Haiti, which will be extended up to October 21. These connections constitute important steps in the tourist transportation in the region and in the multidestination trips. Aerocaribbean airways counts on more than 25 years of operations and increased by 20 percent its transportation figures in 2007, in comparison to the precedent year.
