Cuban Film to Be Screened in Toronto

Toronto, Canada, Sep 3,- The Cuban motion picture "El Cuerno de la Abundancia" (The Horn of Plenty), by filmmaker Juan Carlos Tabio, will be screened at the Toronto International Movie Festival starting here Thursday, until September 14. The comedy focused on the ups and downs of a group of Cubans trying to collect an inheritance deposited in foreign banks since the 19th Century. Tabio called for a team of actors with whom he has already worked several times, headed by Jorge Perugorria and Vladimir Cruz (Fresa y Chocolate), Mirtha Ibarra, Tahimi Alvarino, Enrique Molina and rookie Annia Bu Mauro, among others. With an intelligent humor, Tabio kept a narrow collaboration with deceased filmmaker Tomas Gutierrez Alea. The Toronto Movie Festival is not competitive, but more than 300 films are participating this year. It offers a lot of incentives to filmmakers and opens its doors to many film producers and distributors from different parts of the world. This year, the same as in other occasions, Hollywood "glamour" will be felt, represented by actors like Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Toronto is also a catwalk for the promotion of films that become candidates to the Oscar Awards later.
