Cuban Robles Reaches Finals with Best Time

BEIJING, China, Aug 20,- Cuban Dayron Robles reached the finals in the 110 meter hurdles after winning his semi-final with 13.12 sec time, the best of all qualified athletes. Roble, World record holder with 12.87 sec, was followed by American David Payne (13.21), and in his heat French Ladji Doucoure (13.22) and Jamaican Richard Phillips (13.43) also qualified. In the other heat American David Oliver (13.31), Poland's Artur Noga (13.34), Spaniard Jackson Quinonez (13.40) and Jamaican Maurice Wignall (13.40) will be in the finals as well. The event's final will be disputed this Thursday; the most expected competition in the Athletics championships before the withdrawal of Chinese star Liu Xiang, Athens Olympic champion.
