Cuban Tourism for Gold Award in Russia

Moscow, June 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reaffirmed today its place among the leaders in the Russian tourist market with a nomination of Sol y Son to the highest category of the International Annual Award. Thanks to an outstanding performance as tour operator for Cubana de Aviacion to the Island, Central America and the Caribbean, the company is a strong candidate to the Gold Crown, confirms a source of the committee to Prensa Latina. Apart from the increase on conventional trips, the corporation sent to Cuba three groups of 100, 250 and 178 passengers during the first semester of 2008. A new quality to the company's performance was added by the organization from Moscow of the First Andrology Forum, held in Havana with the attendance of hundreds of Russian scientists, 150 Cuban doctors and Medicine students. Sol y Son's manager in Russia, Reinaldo Torres, describes as positive the contracts signed during the Moscow fairs in March, concerning a charter flight to Varadero Beach and multi-destiny projects with Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. From a commercial management viewpoint, the office in Russia provides higher profits per passenger and has the highest productivity per employee, compared to its fellow offices around the world. Sol y Son got the Bronze Crown in 2005, Silver in 2007 and in 2006 Torres was selected as one of the personalities of the year among leaders of the group in Russia. The judges that grant these awards are specialists from the Ministry of Tourism of the Russian Federation, scholars from Lomonosov University and from the State University of Tourism, the Chamber of Commerce, the city's duma and Moscow's Governor's office.
