Eliades Ochoa, in the Getxo Folk Festival

Spain, - The Cuban musician Eliades Ochoa, the Irish group The Chieftains and the African singer Ismael Lo, will perform in the twenty-fourth edition of the Getxo International Folk Festival (Vizcaya), to be celebrated between September 4 to 7. This musical event dedicated to the most traditional music styles made all over the world. And whose definitive program has been presented by the organizers in Bilbao, will have a total of thirteen free concerts by eleven artists from different parts of the world. The festival will start on September 4 with the performance of the trikitixa (Diatonic chords) Basque group Korrontxi, who will use their concert for recording a life album with the themes of their last work, a project in which will collaborate musicians from different styles. On Friday 5, there will be on the main stage of the La Estacion plaza, of Las Arenas, the Irish group The Chieftains, one of the most renowned bands of traditional music of the already mentioned country, lead for more than forty years by Paddy Moloney. The Chieftains, a band formed in 1962 following Moloney's initiative and which has already 25 albums, six Grammy awards and thousands of life concerts, which make them an icon of the music of their country, will offer in Getxo the purest sound of Irish folk. On the third night, the guest artist will be the African Ismael Lo, born in Niger but who grew up in the neighboring Senegal who mixes the urban poetry of his lyrics with rhythms of Senegalese tradition together with western influences. On September 7, there will be in the Getxo Folk Festival the Cuban musician Eliades Ochoa, one of the most important son musicians of all times and one of the most respected Cuban guitar player of his generation, with his peculiar harmonic guitar, capable of sounding like a tres or like an orthodox guitar. Ochoa, who was part of the project called Buena Vista Social club, outstands for the easiness with which he interprets a wide range of genres, from guarachas and boleros to guajiras. The program of the festival is completed with other groups such as the Mexican Mariachi Imperial Azteca, the Banda de Gaites Llacin from Asturia or the Qui Hi Ha? from Cataluna. They all make up a program in which internationally famous artists share their space with young bands.
