Excelencias Group rewarded Cuban tourism

Havana, Cuba, January 26, - The minister of Tourism of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, affirmed to feel very happy with the Special Prize Excelencias 2011 that the Excelencias Group decided to grant to the Caribbean island considering three really conclusive reasons. "We appreciate the privilege of granting us this special award, and for three reasons that we defend a lot. First, how we have worked the Russian market, in which we come growing in more than 40%, what responds to a strategy that allow us diversifying our holiday destination in the different markets, and we are achieving it in Russia, with positive results", he pointed out. In another moment of his dialogue with our newspaper, Marrero remembered that the recognition is also due to the fact that Havana is the capital of the Caribbean that more Spanish holidaymakers receives, which evidences the fidelity of that market, because "in spite of the crisis, it continues preferring Cuba like one of the more attractive long haul holiday destinations." Another thing that determined the delivery of the Special Prize Excelencias 2011 to the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba is the security that the Caribbean country offers. "In Cuba there are not kidnappings, one can walk at any hour of the night, and that is something that holidaymakers value very well", Marrero emphasized, at the time that highlighted the civic security as one of the particular attributes of the island. The holder of Cuban Tourism thanked once again the Excelencias Group while recognized, "their capacity to show our countries, not because somebody tell them, but because they visit the destinations, they walk the streets, and keep in touch with the people, starting by its own president, the friend Joséarlos de Santiago." "They also strengthen their ties with peoples and authorities, what in fact make their work more serious and objective. It is for this reason that we thank that this recognition has been given to us by the Excelencias Group", the Cuban minister concluded.
