Nobel Prize Wole Soyinka to visit Cuban disk Festival

Havana, (PL). - The Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, 1986 Literature Nobel Prize, confirmed his participation to the Cubadisco 2008 International Festival, dedicated to Africa and its Diaspora, announced sources from the organizing committee. The female singer from Western Sahara, Mariem Hassan, considered to be the most representative voice of the music from that country, and Justin Tchatchoua from Cameroon, will also assist to the event which is going to take place from next May 17 to 25 in Havana, Cuba. The winners of the Cubadisco Awards in the thirty-one competing categories will be made known and five special awards will also be handed in during the festival, which has a yearly frequency. Among the nominees are the Cuban piano player Frank Fernandez with his album "Con el alma en las manos" (With the soul on the hands), the singer Mayra Caridad Valdes with "Obatala estoy aqui" (Here I am Obatala) and the singer X Alfonso with Revoluxion.
