Romerias de Mayo in Holguin

Havana, (Cubarte). - The Cuban eastern city of Holguin, the birthplace of many cultural traditions, will again host the Romerias de Mayo cultural event, set for May 2nd through the 8th, under the slogan "there is no today without yesterday." The event's website is: www.romeriasdemayo.cult.cu. During the event, young artists show their work, sharing spaces with local traditions. It is not then by chance said that Holguin lights the fire and even plant trees, just as the Celtics used to planting a May-tree before every house. The Hermanos Saiz (Brothers Saiz) Association of Young Artists and Culture Promoters is the main organizer of this event, held for the past 15 years in the eastern city, where music, fine arts, poetry, audiovisual presentations and the theatre share spaces. There will also be a space to debate the universal value of our regional cultural traditions, as well as an interactive social forum, conferences, master lectures, performances, concerts and other expressions of artistic creation. The 15th Romerias de Mayo, which will be dedicated to the Mexican State of Tamaulipas and the Ecuadorian city of Quito, will be set up as an International Festival of Young Artists.
