September calls world jazz players

Havana, - September will arrive with the II edition of the meeting Varadero Jam Session, which will caught the followers of this way of making music. Important Cuban figures of the genre from all generations, will gather together at the Matanzas resort, about 150 kilometers east from Havana from the 11 until the 14 of the coming month. Therefore, Chucho Valdes and his quartet, Mayra Caridad Valdes, Bobby Carcasses, Bellita y su Jazztumbata, Orlando Sanchez y Cubajazz, Jose Luis Cortes y NG la Banda, Cesar Lopez y Havana Ensemble, Lazaro Valdes y Bamboleo, the girls from Sexto Sentido and the famous piano player Rolando Luna among many others will meet together in the event. The four days will have also the presence of Daniel Martina (Argentina), Mike del Ferro (Holland), Youth with a Mission (Nigeria), Ensemble en Cayapa (Venezuela) as well as other international artists called by the maestro Jesus Chucho Valdes, president of the organizing committee of the event. The party will be dedicated to the 35 years of the group Irakere, a school of several famous names in the Cuban music. A special moment will be the Jam Session with the winners of the editions Concurso de Jovenes Jazzistas JoJazz (JoJazz Competition of young jazz players). The opening ceremony will be in charge of the host, the maestro Chucho Valdes and his quartet, together with his guests. In the closing ceremony there will be a party in which the stars will play the piano, saxophone and trumpet. Several stages of Varadero will receive the extraordinary improvisation in the different shows of the best jazz singers. The main venue will be Plaza America, while other venues will be the Amphitheatre of Varadero, the Club de Jazz La Darsena and the Continental Cabaret of the Hotel Internacional, as well as Teatro Cardenas in Cardenas city. In charge of making the Varadero Jazz Session are, since last year, the Cuban Music Institute and the Ministries of Culture and Tourism.
