The World Festival of Popular Song Varadero 2008 is at our doors

This resort city will be venue from 11 up to the 15 of June of a new edition of the World Festival of Popular Song, as have been announced in previous articles.Varadero 2008, will be an event that returns to the blue resort after over twenty years in absence. Sponsored by the Cuban Ministries of Culture and Tourism, the event will be presided over by the famous musician Juan Formell, director of the Van Van orchestra. The Festival will be held at the famous Varadero amphitheatre as well as in other locations of the blue beach, such as the Plaza America Convention Centre. Other venues where small and big, national and foreign groups will present their popular and traditional music will be the La Comparsita, of ARTEX, the Josone Park, the Continental cabaret of the International Hotel and the Mediterraneo night club. Nowadays construction companies are giving the final touches to the Varadero amphitheatre, for it to show its best clothes during the 2008 Varadero Festival, where will be presented the most important contemporary music. The Varadero 2008 Popular Song Festival is a relevant event that reaffirms the development of the Cuban culture and offer exchange opportunities with lovers of the Caribbean music, as well as of music from other parts of the world. A theoretical event, named Sencillamente charangueando, as well as books and CD presentations and plastic arts exhibitions will join the live performances of groups and soloist, thus becoming Varadero from the 11 until the 15 of June into the cultural capital of the island.
