World Premieres of the Cuban National Ballet in the Mark of Spain

Havana, The world premieres of the plays Serenata Goyesca, of Alicia Alonso, and Acentos, of Eduardo Blanco by the Cuban National Ballet will distinguish the Mark of Spain Festival, which is taken place in its 20 edition from June 1st until 8th in several Havana locations. The ballet Serenata Goyesca has one act and three scenes. The music is made by Joaquin Rodrigo, the design by Erick Grass and is inspired in characteristic environment of the work of the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya. This ballet had premiered the 4 of June at the Garcia Lorca Hall of the Great Theatre of Havana. It is also worth mentioning the premiere of the La divina Filotea, by the la Compania espanola de Teatro (Spanish Theatre Company), directed by Pedro Maria Sanchez, who will share the stage with several Cuban groups, such as Ballet Espanol de Cuba, (Spanish Ballet of Cuba), Danza Contemporanea de Cuba (Contemporary Dance of Cuba), and el Ballet de Lizt Alfonso. Likewise, the Camerata Romeu, the Compania Flamenca Ecos, the Compania Folklorica Cubana JJ, the singers Amancio Prada, Juan Carlos Mestre and Carlos Cardinal, and Curro Albaysin and Juan Rodriguez who interpret the flamenco, will perform in several Havana locations. Last Sunday, at 9pm started at the Real Fuerza Castle the XX Festival the Mark of Spain and in the opening ceremony took part the Cuban National Ballet, with the premiere of the Eduardo Blanco ballet, Acentos. This ballet has the music of the group Luna Negra. The Spanish oral narrators Quico Cadaval and Candido Pazo, the Ballet Espanol de Cuba and the dance groups of the Federation of Spanish Societies took part also in the opening ceremony. The plastic arts will have a bid presentation with various exhibitions, such as Cuba, veinte grabados en madera, 1931 by Gabriel Garcia Maroto, Cien anos vistiendo a Calderon and the engraving exhibition Leo en el Sevilla by Leonardo Marquez, among many others. The festival, The Mark of Spain, whose honor president is Alicia Alonso, started at the end of the 80's as a cultural project of Alicia Alonso and from its first edition in February 1988 has as its principle not only to reveal the Spanish roots in the Cuban culture, but to show the cultural life and the customs of the Spanish provinces and communities.
